I won't tell you (I'm sure someone else will). As a fan of literature of all types, I despise censorship. In helping your project, here are some links, specifically referring to the title in question:
http://scholar.lib.vt.edu/ejournals/ALAN/v28n2/lent.html
http://www.mountainsplains.org/censorship.html
http://www.teenreads.com/authors/au-cormier-robert.asp

Look close at the last one, as it is an interview with the author and you can learn about banned books. Look for information elsewhere on the court case that sparked the censorship of Cormier's book: Farrell v. Hall, 1988, US District Court for the Northern District of Florida
Books are banned for various reasons. For information on that, read "The Language Police" by Diane Ravitch. For reasons books are banned from the political right, read "What Are They Teaching Our Children" by Mel and Norma Gabler (they are evil).
Books are banned from the left because of political incorrectness. If a black kid plays basketball, the book can be banned. If it contains a stereotype, it can be banned. If it contains information specific to an outside region, it can be banned (i.e. kids on the Nebraska plains may not be able to read "Where the Red Fern Grows" because it takes place on a mountain...which is not specific to Nebraska).
Books are banned from the right if they challenge conservative views. If it inspires critical thinking, getting kids to think for themselves, it can be banned. If it mentions insubordination, it can be banned. If it goes against parents, it can be banned.
Lewd content can get it banned from either side (mostly the right). Sex, drugs, language...all reasons for it to be banned.
Sorry for not doing the project for you, but the ability to think separates us from Nazis. I have faith in your ability to think, and am certain you will be able to do the project on your own.

The reasons for challenging/banning books varies depending on the school system. Try the link below to find out information through the ALA, which keeps track of challenges to books.
