I am not a Real Estate Agent but I can offer some tips. You ask if the job is really hard. I would say it's not hard, but very time consumming. Very often, you have to show houses at the buyer's convenience. It may be really early in the morning or very late at night and/or a weekend. You just do whatever they want to try and make the sale. I think the commission rate depends on the state you live in. If I were you, I would get my real estate SALES license, not broker's license, get a job at a real estate company and get the experience under your belt. Then you can decide if you want to become a broker. I am going to get my sales license one of these days. I figure it will be a great weekend job and then I can get rid of my retail weekend job. Good luck!

From what I've heard, it depends alot on 'who you know.' If you have grown up in the area, maybe you have alot of contacts and a good reputation - that helps b/c people will come to you when they want to buy or sell. Your success also depends upon the local market conditions....and your pay comes soley from commissions so if you sell alot of homes you will make alot of money. It can also be pretty competitive. good luck
