swing weight is a measure of how much a racquet weighs while it is swung. For example a head heavy racquet (weighted more in the head) wil have a greater swing weight than a head light racquet. How hard it is to swing the racquet, get it?

Tennis Racket Weight

Swing weight is the measure of how heavy a racket feels when you swing it. The overall weight of the racket, and the balance (headlight vs. head heavy) are just as important (I think more so), as they are factors in the swing weight. The length of a racket will also play a role in the swing weight.
Focus more on the weight and balance. The harder you hit the ball, a heavier racket will be more solid and stable. Lighter rackets will give you more head speed if you have a slower swing.
I wouldn't worry to much about swing weight. Look for a racket you feel comfortable with and go with it.

There are two major thing and one minor thing to take into consideration when talking about swing weight. The majors are the actual racket weight and the racket's balance. The minor is the racket length. The rule of the thumb is heavier rackets have a higher swing weight or in other words there is more weight that you're transferring through the racket and into the ball when you swing. Generally head-heavy rackets have a higher swing weight than head light rackets, but my suggesting is lean towards head light. They do less damage to your body and if you don't like how it feels use lead tape. The longer a racket the more weight behind it, the shorter the less weight behind it.

The confusing language in how some companies market their products vs. others is where the intended meaning of swing weight is lost. Some refer to the type of swing a product is suited to while others refer to how the product swings. The two are obviously interdependant, but misinterpretation is common.

A heavier racket necessitates more energy to get the head around the ball while a lighter racket will need less. Generally speaking, a long, looping swing is better suited to a heavier racket since you can hit through the ball aggressively while maintaing accuracy. Conversely, a more compact swing benefits from a lighter head as power is more easily generated.
