Go to START | PROGRAMS | ACCESSORIES | SYSTEM TOOLS and run the Disk Defragmenter. You probably ought to do this at least once a month.

To defrag well, you should empty all the excess junk files first. I do a cleanup in Internet Exployer (cookies, temp files, etc), then I use "Disk Cleanup" (found in the Accessories, System Tools) to get rid of more system temp files, deleted files, etc., but remember not to selelect "compression".
Then you can run Defrag.
I do a defrag about monthly, or after a large program has been installed. It doesn't help all that much.
