If you are storing them and not using them they last longer in cold weather because the chemical reactions happen more slowly. If you are using them they work better in hot weather and may last longer because they are less stressed in hot weather.

I took a cam corder up in a biplane, it was so cold the battery gave up, and the battery in the GPS gave up too and we got lost.
