Every team in the division has some holes to fill, and in most cases, those holes are in the rotation.
LAA seems to be the closest to filling its rotation holes, and with a bullpen as strong as theirs, figure to be the favorite to win the division this season.
Oakland would have been the favorite if they were able to retain the services of Barry Zito. San Francisco's gain will ultimately cost Oakland the division and any chance to compete in the postseason.
Seattle has Ichiro, Felix Hernandez, and... did I mention Ichiro? I did? Well... let's just say Seattle's chances of winning the AL West look about as good as my chances of wearing a Ryan Freel jersey.
Texas is the darkhorse in the race, as they've made drastic improvements to their pitching staff and still feature the division's most dangerous lineup.
The question is... did Texas improve their pitching enough to overtake LAA and win the division this season? I'll believe it when I see it, so I'll take LAA for now and see how things unfold.

I think the Angels have the best shot to win the AL West. Their starting pitching and relief pitching is the best out of the west. Their weakness is offense but if they can at least have an average offense with the pitching staff they have it ought to be enough to win games. The A's got weaker they lost Thomas, Payton and Zito. The Mariners are still missing more pitching to contend. The Rangers did improve but not enough they need at least one more good starting pitcher to contend.

The Oakland A's. Since they got rid of the inconsistent Barry Zito, their pitching staff will carry them to the AL West title. And depending on what kind of impact Mike Piazza has at DH they have a shot at the World Series.

Its got to be the A's. They won it last year and even though they lost Zito who to be honest, his stats were very mediocre last year, they are getting Rich Harden back this year who sat out almost the entire year last year with an injury and you got to like their line up still and with Street as their closer they look to be in good shape for another AL West Pennant. Also in Agust they never lose any games so thats a guaranteed 17 wins in the month of August.
