Brightly colored bowls attract their attention. Try little finger foods like the Gerber Puffs (they melt in your mouth and are actually yummy!) Talk to them while you try to feed them baby food. For example: "Here comes the choo-choo train.." or something similar to that. Make silly faces to distract them and stick a bite in their mouth. But if you're doing this because you think they're not getting enough to eat, I wouldn't do it. Babies will eat when they're hungry and trust me, they'll let you know.

What is the underlying reason for your question? Is your baby not eating? If he or she is not eating, do you mean he or she is just not eating solid food? Or do you mean he or she is not eating at all?

If your child is not eating at all, go to the doctor. This may be the sign of illness and you will be better off finding out early. If he or she has not been eating for more than a day, definitely make an appointment as soon as possible. Is he or she drinking water or milk? There is a big concern about dehydration.

If s/he is simply not eating solid food, is he or she nursing? A child can get plenty of nutrition from breast milk until he or she is as old as a year, although most babies are beginning to nibble at solid food earlier than that.

Your infant is too young to be completely weaned so expect her or him to continue to drink from the bottle or breast for a few more months. If you are having trouble continuing to breast feed, you can switch him/her to a bottle.

If you're using formula or breast milk you can often get a baby to eat solid food by offering solid food before offering the bottle. Don't wait until your baby is just starving, offer a bit of something s/he likes then let him or her fill up on formula. Over time more and more solid food will take the place of the formula.

When introducing solid foods, provide the child with a variety of different foods, including mooshed up food that you eat. You'll want to stick to natural, healthy foods as much as possible for the child's overall health. It is not necessary to use canned baby foods if you eat a healthy diet and can provide some soft bits of your food for your infant.

9 month old's are still just experimenting with food. All nutrients should still be coming from breastmilk or formula. So you don't need to worry about making it look attractive. Just try again in a couple of days.

My son is nine months old and doesn'tb really care how his food looks. He likes to play with his food and make a mess. Every baby is different, I guess. You might try feeding your baby something different, because they might not like what you are giving them.

lol.

Do you have a 9 month old? if so I'd venture to say its your first and you have no other children and MUCH too much time on your hands.

9 month olds dont spend much time basing their desire to eat something on how it looks. Its more about if they like the food and are hungry.

Somethings small enough to eat themselves and pick up with their little fingers is what they want.

*Attractively?* It doesn't matter what the food looks like at this age. My 18 month old boy still eats mushed up food sometimes.

the breast.
that is pretty young to be eating solid food.
just wait until the baby eats.
trying to make the baby eat just leads to obesity later
and the child learning that he can eat to please people.
they don't need attractive food. they will put anything within their reach in their mouth. it's more important to make sure they haven't had any candy or sweet things or fatty things so they will be hungry for nutritous food. like never give them juice or pop.
because then they're not hungry for real food.

Maybe you should try giving him some things like mashed potatoes or soft mac n cheese. You can put a tiny bit of butter or milk in it to make it more tasty.

You cut different things up into little pieces and arrange them attractively on a plate, like a little buffet. They like tasting different things, flavors, colors, shapes. Tell her, "This is what Dora and Boots like to eat for lunch."
