Not word for word, but something like this:
Dear ________,
I am writing to you about a wonderful program that is going on at __________ Day Care.
(explain the program, the lower income aspect, the ages of the children, the potentional for these children and the advantages of your day care)
My administrator and I wanted to invite you to be a part of this wonderful program by donating toys or games. Learning games would be a great asset.
If we work together, the future of these kids can be a brighter one.
Thank you in advance. You can contact me at --------------------
Sincerely,

Dear Toy Store,
I am writing this letter to ask for toy donations for a daycare for lower income children. I hope you find it in your heart to make donations.
Thanks

Use a respectful tone. Find out who the manager is or who the person in charge of donations is so that you can properly address the letter. State your purpose for requesting the toys. Make sure you use complete sentences and examples of how the toys would be used.

Basically, put in there that you're writing on behalf of (the name of the place), that we are a low income daycare facility in need of help from the community. If you could possibly find it in your heart to donate some toys to our childcare facility we would be grateful. Or something to that effect. Make sure that its professional looking and on company letterhead.

just write from your heart. Don't look at toys as just mere toys. Look at toys in a humanistic way

Dear Toy Store,
Hand over the freakin' toys.
These poverty stricken children are tired of playing with rocks and old tires.
Thanks,

write from who you are.
Ask nicely and show them what it is like at the daycare and show that the kids really need and would enjoy the toys.
Just speak from your heart is the best advice I can really give you.
