In my twenties I owned a bar, and let me tell you I had a great time throwing parties, encouraging people to drink too much while I was making a very nice profit. None of this seemed wrong to me. Until this guy I loved, not in the physical immoral way but in the way a human loves and other human, left my bar late at night without notice. He was killed in a single car accident that night. Life quit being a party for me, every time one of my friends(customers) drank too much I worried. I realized how much time they were spending in my bar instead of at home with their families, they money they were giving me that could be used to pay the mortgage. I could not find a single good in how I was making a living. It only took me 2 months to get the bar sold, and I am glad of that. It took several years before the damage I had done there stopped tormenting my heart.
