I am unemployed and the job search seem futile, no one wants to hire an old woman, I will lose a lot if i take an earyly retirement and receive ss on my own. Can I collect on my x husbands ss while he is alive or do I have to wait until he bites the dust?/

Yes, you can collect from his SS. Call or visit your local Social Security office and pick up a pamphlet called "What Every Woman Should Know".... This will answer your question more fully.

No. You are no longer married, therefore he is no longer your husband. You cannot claim spouse benefits whether he's alive or dead.

And FYI, I know plenty of 62-year olds who work. Stop feeling sorry for yourself and get off your bottom and get a job.

You seem like such a nice person, a little greedy and crass but nice nevertheless. Maybe while you are waiting for him to die you could maybe hold up a few Exxon stations to tide you over.

well i dont think u can unless the judge that divorced u said u would receive something that is what happend to my mom and dad u probely should have asked for this while u was going thew the divorce

You need to be married for 10 years, if you were married before that is who you will get the benefits from. Even if he is remarried the benefits go to the 1st wife that was married for 10 years. Good Luck..........

no you can't since you divorced him... I can see why he divorced you though... keep working and retire at the regular age... you can always work p/t to get more money anyways... look at the supermarkets, assisting w/children at schools, hospitals. etc
