for his work on global warming and his book "An Inconvenient Truth"? Do you think he's a good candidate for this prize or is this pure foolishness?

It's on a par with nominating Clinton for the marital fidelity prize.

I have no idea who other candidates for the Prize happen to be. But Albert Gore would be an excellent choice. Some who deny global warming are ostriches with their head in the sand. All across the world nations are waking to the dangers of this problem. It is quite real. The Arctic Ice Cap is melting, the snows of Kiliminjaro are rapidly melting. It takes someone with courage to do what he is doing. P.S. Jimmy Carter was one of the very best choices for the Peace Prize in recent times. He is far more respected outside this country than in. "A prophet is not without honor except in his own land".

Anyone can get nominated for a Nobel Peace Prize anymore. Alfred Nobel must be rolling in his grave. I lost all respect for the process when Jimmy Carter got the prize a few years ago. "Pure foolishness" is a pretty good description.

Since most Nobel Prizes lately are given for foolishness, I suppose he's a good candidate.

I liked his work discovering the Internet much better .
When Jimmy Carter and Arafat the terrorist got it - we pretty much stopped taking it so serious . Algore is a blithering idiot ; and we didn't know just how blithering because he stayed in his place beside the Clinton's in the White House . Since algore makes so many wild claims & accomplishments ..could it be..Michael Moore is behind an inconvenient truth ? How convenient ..

An excellent idea - and a good deal more sensible than some of the previous award-winners (like Kissinger). Isn't is interesting that some people have become much more effective leaders *after* losing out (Jimmy Carter's doing some very good work and seems to be contented doing it). And how interesting that Al Gore ceases to be the rather wooden figure that he appeared to be when VP and in the campaign - he drops a couple of brilliant one-liners that are almost Tom Lehrer in their style of delivery.

I hope he does receive the prize ... and that he's listened to.

Are you joking?

I watched the film last night. People unfamiliar with it can't answer this question.

I think his nomination is fantastic. He has been fighting to get this issue into the mainstream for decades and we would not be where we are if not for the refusal of our government and big business to do anything about it.

Al Gore is an intellectual, a humanitarian, and a hero.

I think he should not win anything. His movie was very political, and I think he is just using it to gain popularity. A lot of the facts he mentions are very controversial. At one point he says that a whole bunch of species (and he names them) are endangered and extinct due to global warming AND OTHER FACTERS! He is a complete idiot.
