This is a burning question that pops in my head when i see the winning team of ANY champioship game pull out hats and shirts that are printed already!!

I am sure that the Bears also had Superbowl Champ hats made in the case that they won, but they didnt win.

What happens to all of that mechandise? I have never heard or seen it on e-bay or being sold on the "black market" or as a collectors item. Is it all destroyed?

Does any of it leak out?

How much is made?

hmm..

All that wearable merchandise is donated to the poor folks living in Third World African countries such as Ethiopia.

That merchandise is all supposed to be regulated by the National Football League, so it is the League's responsibility to see that it's all destroyed. It's part of the cost of doing business for the NFL and football teams. So if you were to see someone wearing a "Chicago Bears: Super Bowl XLI Champions" T-shirt or hat, they got it illegally.

i read a article on this once. From what i gathered they send it to 3rd world nations as donations. I saw a picture of a kid wearing a Buffalo Bills Super Bowl champions shirt in the article. As for how much is made i would say probably only a few hundred at first then as orders come in they make more.

I always thought it was destroyed and maybe it is. I heard on the CBS morning show the other day that they donate the merchandise to a third world country. I sitll wonder, though, if they destroy the logo on the shirts before they ship them off? Seems to me it would be a hot item on ebay if the right person got ahold of them.

i think that they only print enough up for the players and coaches and anybody else for the team. They have it ready at the stadium, and who ever wins, they bring it out quickly, and give it to them. Before the game even started they had a commercial saying 'pre-order your super bowl merchandise"... I don't think they have it printed up yet, because they don't know themselves who will win, so why waste money printing more than is needed.

I think the 3rd world country thing is right, I've heard that before. They must think the Buffalo Bills are awesome in Africa.

they only make enough merchandise like that for the team FIRST..then if they win, they begin to pump out lots of merchandise for stores, fans, etc...but i think what they DO make they just destroy.
