I am waiting on hold right now to make a doctor's appointment but in the mean time want to get advice from others on this. I am on birth control pills now and i missed one a couple of days ago but took two the next day and all was fine this was about a week ago well day before yesterday i have been spotting started out as brown then went to a light red with a lot of mucus and stopped last night and is now back again. my cervix is high and closed I always thought that if you were bleeding it would be open at least a little bit or at least mine is when I am on my period my last period was on January 24th but instead of being bright red blood the whole 5 days for four out of the five it was brownish blood with mucus. I am now worried because i am experiencing some lower back pain and extreme moodswings and nothing tastes right to me, and when i am hungry it feels like i am starving but can't eat, i am sure i am not pregnant but i am worried about what is wrong with me

I didn't start taking the pill until my period was finished. I have been on birth control pills before and never had something like this and I don't know if it is normal for all of this to still be going on when I missed one pill over a week ago

The spotting is just breakthrough bleeding from missing a pill. The brownish period last month is normal on birth control. The other symptoms could be attributed to many things--side effects of the pills, getting a cold or flu, etc.

The appetite thing is probably anxiety; being uptight can do all sorts of strange things to your body - least of which is your desire for food. Your emotional turmoil over the unexpected bleeding is probably causing the irritability as well.

As for the bleeding, this is probably normal, considering you skipped a pill. This is commonly referred to as "breakthrough bleeding."
Your cervix isn't going to open or dilate an appreciable amount even during your period, so unless you KNOW for sure what your normal aperture is, you probably wouldn't feel anything different with relation to your cervix "opening."

If the doc wants to see you, go ahead, but I'm guessing he'll probably say everything is fine & to just ride it out.

It sounds like you could be pregnant. Your best bet is what you are doing, calling the doctor. He or she will want to do a pregnancy test to find out if you are pregnant and might possible do a few other tests too.

You screwed up your hormones by skipping those days and then jumping back on the pill. This happens all the time.
