All local schools were closed and I went to class early to study for an exam. I trudged through the snow and below zero temps to get to class. I was so mad because my teacher called in "sick" because of the weather. What a hassle for those of us who actually took the time to come to school. Why didn't they just close the college like all of the other schools?

Oh, my life doesn't suck- far from it. lol. I just think that if the weather is so bad for all schools to close then colleges should close too. Many of us have to walk close to a mile from the student apartments/dorms or from the parking lot to class....oh well, at least I got 5 hours of studying in today.

I wish I was one of those people who could just stay home if the weather is bad. I feel bad about it though. Only if I'm very ill do I miss class.

There is money tied to public schools and attendance. Also, they have the entire bus route thing to worry about, which is also the responsibility of the taxpayers. In college, no one cares about attendance and most kids live on campus anyways.

I go to Texas A&M...when we had ice storms here, they delayed the beginning of our semester by two days. The highschools only got one, if that. I guess it just depends on how much your administration cares about its students. Plus, it was at the beginning of the semester and most of our student body travels home for the holidays. I guess they figured no one would show up anyway.

Because people who attend college are older and harder than the lil kiddies that go to school.

The teachers/lecturers however, are always the same...

they probably cant close it officially because you are paying them to be there. so if they alwyass closed the school down then they may have to legally refund you some tuition money
