What does it say about your intelligence that your solution to fix broken institutions like education and and health care is just to throw money at it? I'm not against spending more money on education and health care because it's too expensive, I'm against it because it won't work. As for the war, wars are expensive. Deal with it. And do you think cutting the budget for the war would make the situation in Iraq better, or worse?

I just moved to the Czech Republic, where the amount spent per capita on students is probably one fifth that spent in the USA. Believe me, if you take a typical student here and compare him with a typical student from America, the American kid is going to look like he's a bit retarded.

People here actually pay attention in school. When they learn a foreign language, they know it so well you have a hard time believing they didn't spend several years living in that country. I went to college with a girl who was a Spanish major. Two years later, she couldn't even say, "I put the glass on the table". Pathetic.

So, throwing money away is not the answer. Watch the movie, "The Boys of Baraka". They send these Baltimore kids to KENYA AFRICA, and all their test scores skyrocket. Still think throwing money at the problem is the answer?

Health care: people will always be better off purchasing their own health insurance. Bush proposed a wonderful plan which gives people tax credit for having signed up for health insurance. Do you really want some 3rd world nationalized health coverage? Do you want to go to the doctor's office and spend the whole day there? Well, that's how it is in every country with nationalized health care.

Looking ahead to that tricky eye surgery? Good luck getting a competent doctor. But heck, the operation was "free", wasn't it? That should compensate you (and your new seeing eye dog)

Because educators and people, who need health care, do not pay for the GOP's campaign. Military contractors and others do...so its the opposite side of the coin for who ever is in power. We need to change the system because special interest have a 50 - 50 chance of making some bank and normal everyday person has a zero chance and gets lost in the shuffle.

It's not that we don't have money, it's just a waste of money to let the federal government try to micromanage the educational system of this country. It's best left to the states and local districts.

One of the primary obligations of our government is to "provide for the common defense." Many of us don't believe that it is the federal governments responsibility to provide education or health care. States can make decisions about how best to provide for their people regarding educational needs and health care. Personally I don't think the government is competent enough to handle either.
