I guess the answer depends upon where you are, and the time of year. Kenya is on the equator, so can be very hot in places. However, the elevation varies. Mount Kenya has a snowy peak (until Global Warming melts it).
While on Safari in Kenya, we were advised to dress in layers in the morning, peel them off for the afternoon heat, and put them back on for the evening cooler weather.
