he seems to be at a stage where he just wants to do it for himself.
Try giving him a spoon to hold while you feed him a meal. Cut down on snacks inbetween meals and keep food times to meal times if possible - some days it just doesnt work.
My son went through a time like this and still has the occasional; day where he wont have a meal and want finger foods. (hes 13months)
Good Luck! Hope it helps.

My son went through this but a little bit younger. In the end I stopped fighting him and if he refused his dinner, he was taken out of his high chair and that was the end of meal time. He soon realised that he was hungry and that it made sense to eat. He is now 11 months and the only problems I have is that he will refuse to eat unless he can do it himself!!
It sounds cruel, but this was advised to me by my h/visitor. He was still getting the goodness he needed from his bottles and snacks, so it didn't hurt to do it for a few days.
Good luck, remember don't rise to it, it could be his way of attention seeking!

It sounds like he's not that hungry during those times... babies do this every so often, they will have a growth spurt and eat a whole bunch and then the next week not want to eat anything at all. I bet in a week or so he will be back to normal. My three little girls all 4 and under started doing this also, it's like winter time comes and they can't burn off that much energy so there for they don't want to eat... If you are still concerned after a week or so make an appointment to speak with his pediatrician.

Cottage cheese, small pieces of cheese/fruit/cookes veggies/soft meat, over-cooked noodles, Cheerios, crackers, bananas, peas, baked potato, scrambled egg yolks, oatmeal, spaghetti chopped up small in a blender, basically small pieces of anything you eat unless it's hard, easy to choke on, has lots of sugar/salt, or is highly allergenic. We feed our daughter whatever we eat, and she'll eat just about anything.

Possibly teething. Is he generally cranky and feverish? He may also just be telling you he's ready for more finger foods at meal times.

sounds like he prefers finger foods just give him the home prepared food and let him eat it with his hands rather than spoon bit messy but works
