If you are trying to concieve and you had sex that month. That month you still don't know you are pregnant until you see your period/or miss your period (which you haven't yet because a month hasn't passed yet - i'm talking regular periods as i have). But you have come up with horrible cold and have been taking Neorophen after trying to concieve and still don't know if that was a success if you are lucky to be pregnant..

1) would you still be pregnant although you have been on medication or tablets and a flu that month?
2) would that harm the pregnancy and you'll loose because you became cold/flu and took medciation? Or wouldn't that be as important because of the first month hasn't gone by yet...?

With my first baby I had the flu. I was soooo super miserable and coughing up a storm. I had no idea I was pregnant and I was drinking Nyquil like crazy, and taking other medications. I was worried about that after I found out I was pregnant, but I had a healthy baby boy. Dont worry. Many women do things that arent real great before they know they aer pregnant and they have healthy babys. Also , the first 2 weeks of pregnancy are the time from the first day of your last period until ovulation and then it still takes the baby 6 to 12 days to attach to your uterus.

Up until about 8-10 weeks gestation the baby is self suffcient and relies totally on the yolk sac for nutrients as the umbilical cord has not yet formed. So that first month you're looking at a baby that has only been growing for 2 weeks (since the time of ovulation and fertilization).

Its unlikely that the pregnancy would be effected by the medication, unless it was something so hard-core that it stayed in your system for months.. like radiation therapy or narcotics or something.

Some times however, a severe bout of the flu, or any sickness can cause your body to abort the pregnancy early on... but that would result in what you would think was a late or heavy period.

I wouldnt stress it at this point.

Actually...I've heard of many people getting a cold or flu the same month they get pregnant. Not sure if its b/c your body is trying to figure out what's going on with this new "being" in your body and then becomes weaker against these viruses or what..?

Any medications that you want to take need to be okayed with a doctor if you are trying to get pregnant or may be pregnant. More than likely the medication you took did not harm your baby if you are pregnant.

1) if you're pregnant you're pregnant, being that you took medication won't change that fact.

2) if you've already taken the medication, theres really not that much you can do about it after the fact if you are in fact pregnant. However, I would suggest that you talk to your OB and find out what kind of cold medications you can take "if" you were pregnant and stick to those. That way you will have peace of mind and can take a safe medication just in case you become pregnant.

Good luck!

yes you can be pregnant and there may be a very good chance of it. Though it is still important not to take medications during pregnancy, because yes it can harm the baby. It doesn't matter how far you are to affect the baby. So if you thinm you are pregnant, it is best to stop taking medications
