He didn't get enough votes and it's rare that sixth men get in an all-star game.

Ben Gordon is an amazing player, I agree. The reason he wasn't selected to the All-Star game was because he's not well enough known around the country. While the Bulls as a team are very good, they don't have flashy players that draw attention to themselves. While 5 unselfish players make the best teams, that unfortuneatly does not draw a lot of fans from outside the Chicago area. Basketball was meant to be a team game with players who are gracious in victory and defeat, but recently glamorous players are the ones that draw all the attention and get voted to the All-Star game. Just because Ben Gordon didn't make it to the All-Star game doesn't mean that he isn't an All-Star.

Even if he's good enough, that's not a guarantee he'll make it an all star. I can't even say it's popularity contest...why was Melo left out? He is extremely popular. This is really perplexing. Other than the enjoyment of the fans, and all-star game is not good at all. It somehow hurts players who are not chosen. Unlike the last USA Team in FIBA, everybody knows that the player is chosen because of the role he needs to play. A player may be good but if he doesn't fit, he won't make it. If that's the case, the player will not have any ill-feelings. But with all-star, it's different. I'm sure, somehow, left-out players, who thinks they are good, probably hurts inside, no matter how tough their bodies are.

As for Shaq, with all due respect to him, I believe he is not worthy of an all-start this year. And yes Ben Gordon should be there...so is Melo.

All-Stars are the most popular players, not specifically the most talented. That goes for every sport, not just basketball. There are only 12 all-stars for each conference, so, having a conversation about non-all-stars vs. all-stars is kind of pointless, because obviously there will be players who are better, but didn't make it, especially if they play in a smaller market like Utah. That said, you are crazy if you think Sheed and Troy Murphy are better than Dirk. Just because he can't win in the playoffs doesn't make him less of a player. Derrick Rose is better than Deron Williams too. Derrick Rose and Chris Paul are the top 2 PGs in the league.

Politics.

Shaq is in the All-Star game and he's played EIGHT GAMES all season. I'm not disputing his skill, but it's ridiculous that he gets a bid over Ben Gordon or *cough* Steve Nash *cough*.

He is not good enough to be on the team, he only averages 30min a game, his defense is very suspect, he can't do anything else but score, and if u would put him on the team, whut guard do u take off. Arenas,Wade,Kidd,Carter,Billips,or hamilton. Not to mention he is not better than joe johnson, michael reed, eddie curry, or emeka okeafor and they all didn't make the team.

The voters snubbed him. He deserves to be there due to the lack of talent in the eastern conferance. He will get the 6th man award for sure this year.
