I am going to be scheduled for a ultrasound to look at the gallbladder. I am having pain under my ribcage on the right side I also have bad direea. Even if i watch what i am eating i still have these attacks. So you know how to relieve the pain? and if they find stones what do they do? take it out? what is the side affects of that and how long does it take to recover? I am a stay at home mom I can't get a babbysitter for 4 kids for a long time. If they don't take it out what are other options?

It only takes 3 days to a week to recover...and yes, it seems to me that you have gallstones. Don't worry. I took care of my two children while recovering. They do it with four small incisions because they do it laporscopically (I think that's how you spell it). At any rate, the pain isn't that severe, and you will be able to function just fine. The only real cure for gallbladder attacks is to get it removed...trust me, I tried to eat right, but it got to the point that even Jello was killing me.

Gallbladder stones are normally removed with a laser that breaks them up so that they can pass through your system. This is horribly painful, now............while you have the stones. Surgery will be a welcome relief for you. You need to have the surgery, before you cannot walk, crawl or lie down, due to the agonizing pain that the stones give you. I know many people who had had the surgery, and they really were happy when the stones were no longer a problem. Hospitalization is not long, and you will be sore for a bit after the operation, but, not in the agony that you must be, now.

It's best to get it taken out. The attacks come when a gall stone blocks the exit. Once you have had a couple of attacks, then it will keep happening. It could be major surgery, or they could do it with a couple of small incisions. Obviously the major surgery would require a longer recovery time, but it would depend on the size of the stones and gallbladder. The recovery time depends on you and how much you take care of yourself (I know it will be difficult with four children).

As far as relieving the pain, shoot mine was worse than childbirth! Couldn't find anything to help. I finally got to where just about everything but jello and turkey hurt me. I had mine taken out last month. It was out patient and I only needed to rest that day and take it easy for about a week. You shouldn't need a babysitter except for the day of the surgery. Good luck. As far as other options, I looked into the diet thing but to be honest I couldn't handle not knowing when an attack was going to happen and stopped eating. So I had mine out asap.

Get it out before you have a bad attack. Gallstones can be very painful. If you can do the laproscoptic surgery I would suggest that. It is much easier on your body and you will be back to normal in no time.

Yep. I had mine removed last year.
Pain under my rib cage on the left side. That's your Pancreas...a sign of Pancreatitus. (same in my case).

You say you watch what you are eating. Try going off all dairy products and fats, it helps me.
