I don't know if these are three star but I know personally that they are very good. There is Greek Isle on Bland Street. It has that comfortable welcome to my home for dinner feel but then at the same time the food is excellent and you go formal or casual. If you want really good BBQ, then I would suggest traveling south on 85 to McCadenville for the ribs. The sauce is lick the bones clean. For italian I would suggest Carrabus on South Blvd or Bertucci in the Park Towne shops. For Chinese buffet I agree with the one earlier Tin Tin, that is located on on Park Road of off Pineville Matthews Road off of 485 or Chens in the University. I also like Boardwalk Billys in University too. I have been to several of the Japenese Steakhouse in and around Charlotte and have been pleased with all of them. There is also the Melting Pot it is a bit pricey but the food and service is excellent and it is kinda fun cooking your own food. Good Luck and have fun. I try to stay away from major chains because you can get adventurous with individual resturants. One place that I forgot but it is owned by the same family that owns Greek Isle and that is French Quarter. I have never eaten there but I have heard that it is really really good from very many people. It is located in the Uptown area.
