I am 37 wks preggo and have not gained alot of weight. I started out at 163 pnds. i now weigh 168 pnds. I have asked the doctor if everything was fine for the longest time and now she said that I have to have an u/s because I have stopped growing and they need to see why. this is my 3 preg. My first 2 with a previous relationship i ballooned up and gained over 20 pnds with each and had 9 lbs babies. I am getting scared now as i never had to have u/s this late in preg before. has any one else had this problem.

They are just being safe....I woudldn't worry too much because that isn't good for you, either!! When you say you have stopped growing....to you mean you aren't measuring bigger or you haven't gained weight??

This child is with a different father....which will make the pregnancy totally different, I would think. The genetics are different and this baby just has it's own thing going in there.

Good luck to you...I hope everything turns out fine (I am sure it will!!)

Many times healthy babies are born to women who have poor weight gain, but this is not always the case. That's why your doctor would rather err on the side of caution.
Babies with Intra-Uterine Growth Retardation can have some very serious medical or cognitive problems. The symptoms of IUGR are poor total weight gain, and poor interval growth (growth of the fetus from one week to the next.) There is often a decrease in the amniotic fluid.
It can be caused by poor diet, but also by things completely out of your control, like certain medical problems in the mother, and
various conditions of the fetus and placenta.
On the ultrasound they will look at the fluid and the estimated weight of the baby. They will also look at the size of the head compared to the size of the body. If there is a problem they will probably put you on bed rest, or maybe even induce your labor.

Most likely everything is fine, so try not to worry too much. It sounds like they are taking good care of you!

Don't worry too much mamma...I had u/s about two weeks before I delivered to determine size...(week 41)

I gained 5 pounds through the entire pregnancy...until the last few weeks ( I was three weeks over due) then I packed on about 10 more pounds...

At week 37 I had only gained about 5 pounds...

I'm sure they're just being safe...

Figure it this way, by now...baby is fully developed and big enough to be perfect already anyway. You could go into labor today and baby would be just fine.

No worries mamma! Congratulations!!

By the way...they were concerned that I wasn't gaining weight and that baby might be small...uh hello...he was 10.1 & 21.5 inches long and just fine! They just want to make sure everythings ok.

It could be something to worry about but they arent always right. It happened to my friend she was tiny and the doctor was saying her baby was really small for how far along she was so they sent her for ultrasounds and they said it looked ok she ended up having a 8 pound baby

Good luck, I am also in the same boat. I will be going for my ultrasound tomorrow morning. The doctors just want to make sure that everything is fine and that it is not an IUGR.

i wouldn't worry too much if anything they can induce or do a c-section now and you are full term. so don't stress it. but sometimes people measure off. like me i've measured smaller twice. we did a sono and it shows i am still as far as we first thought. so....i'm not worrying. plus you could have lost weight thats why its not showing you gained tons and tons of weight. i'm gained o far last i checked last week 37 pounds.

You sound as once you're relating an already existent interest wherein the organisation did take such measures. And define, "such" measures. they have unquestionably taken measures, and that i discover video games lifelike yet you're question is to obscure to respond to wisely.

Thats stupid. At 36 weeks I stopped gaining weight and actually lost 8 pounds, my belly measured smaller, and no one ordered an ultrasound.

turns out the baby had dropped and i was stressed and losing weight.

Thats silly to spazz out about it all. Iam sure the ultrasound will reveal all is well.
