Just one more spec I would hope for is a fast hard drive.
5400 rpm minimum with a good cache. 7200 rpm is much faster (but causes more heat). I find a slow hard drive affects everything from programs to internet surfing.
Also, go look at the LCD screen, and play on the keyboard. They are what you deal with the most! If you don't like these two things, the rest won't matter!!!
I like Lenovo and Sony, Toshiba too. Dells are "ok".

Don't get a Dell. The have a lot of problems with overheating and freezing. They last about 2 years before you have to delete everything and start all over from scratch. Believe me I have a lot of experience with their laptops. The best out there right now is MAC. They now come with windows and OSX so now you can get programs for them. MAC's don't overheat and the viruses stay away. Many people have gotten years out them.

I got an IBM Thinkpad, can only recommend this.
As for other Laptops I can't say much, cuz I'm from Germany, most of our best Suppliers don't ship oversea, ... just compare prices, as best priced Laptops change from week to week.
I don't think Dell is a good choice, but it depends.

Get Averatec or Dell. Dell is faster, but has less features. Averatec has something where you can scroll off of the Mouse Pad! So get either one!

You should go to Dell.com and select something from them or speak with someone there. Right now they are the best dealers.
