So I'm sitting in my office with absolutely no work to do and for the past hour and a half the heat has not been working. There is a whole big process that needs to be done in order to restart the damn thing, which only my boss can do so I'm stuck freezing on one of the coldest days of the year. I just called my boss's cell phone and left a message about 5 minutes ago indicating that I am without heat again and am waiting for him to show up or call. How long would you wait before deciding to leave? or would you leave at all? I'm just curious to see what others would do in my situation... This happens pretty much on a daily basis...

I'd just mention that there is not heat, and go home. Don't mention you don't have nothing to do or he'll realize that he doesn't need you after all.

that is no working condition to be in - i would leave - half the day is already over and you are finished for the day, right?
high tail it outta there and go have a hot toddy - tell your boss you'll be back when the damn thing is fixed for good - or have him show you how to do it for next time. (if u like ur boss and job that is.........)
good luck!

I would not leave your job. That would be grounds for termination. Wait and see what he does. Put on your coat, scarf and hat if you have to.
