The best way to record an acoustic guitar is with the use of two microphones. Place one microphone directly over the 12th fret a few inches away. Place the second microphone directly over the bridge a few inches away. If you are limited to one microphone, use the 12th fret placement.
If you are using your computer to record you may need a recording interface, which allows you to plug in microphones and instrument cables into your computer, and also bypass your computers lousy sound card with near studio quality preamps.
Remember to experiment a little with microphone placement and have fun recording!

Recording an acoustic guitar can be difficult. Sometimes it doesn’t even matter if you’re playing a $1000 acoustic. If it’s poorly recorded, it can sound thin and brittle. A bad guitar can sound good with the right mic and room sound. Every situation will require a little tweaking.

You can use a pick up that is installed under the strings near the opening which can in turn be plugged into a sound board or to a sound device that hooks to your computer (there are several types, depending on the program you use to record sound), or you can put a microphone near the strings near the opening. You will want to record in a location that gives good acoustic feedback or absorbs the surrounding sounds.

Like Luigi said, Audacity is great for a free program, just mess around with the sound setting and you'll get a clear acoustic tone.

if you mean serious recording, go to a studio.
if you are trying to record at home with minimal cost. get a good sound card with input, a good recording software and attach a
"PICKUP" to your guitar and connect to the soundcard. run the software and record.
