As the male matures the Anal fin develops into a structure for reproduction called the Gonopodium. The Gonopodium can be moved in almost any direction and stores the sperm in packs called spermatophores. Once the sperm is inserted into the female it fertilizers her eggs and the rest is stored in the Oviduct walls for later use. The eggs are very rich in yolk and the young develop by consuming their yolk stores. In light colored females pregnancy can be recognized by the growing dark body marking in front of the Anal fin. Young Live-bearers are fairly large at birth and their development is very advanced. They can swim right away, which is needed to avoid their enemies including their parents who give no natal care whatsoever. The fry grow very rapidly and will eagerly accept fine flake food.

The number of fry is variable due to the size differences in the species, but in larger females can number well over one hundred.

They can have between 1 and 100 fry (babies) at one time, although 20-30 is a normal amount. The babies will be eaten by the other fish and also their parents. If you want to save them, set up a small tank and net them when you see them. You won't get them all, but you should still manage to catch plenty.
And if you don't, they have fry about every 25-30 days, so there's plenty more where that came from :)

If you want the baby mollies to have a shot at survival then you need to get some plants into the tank so that the fry have a place to hide. The other way will be to get a breeding trap and put the female(s) into it before they give birth.

they can have lots a batch can be anywhere from 5 to 50 (although i have never had 50 a batch)and will have a batch every month for 6 months from the time the male gets them prego. you might want to look into a breeder net because even the mollies will eat their fry. what i do is keep lots of fake plants floating on top so the fry can hide. hope that helps and good luck with babies next month!!!!!!
