Anyplace will not do.

If you are not a good student, then you need to go somewhere that has experience at helping students succeed when they have not done well in the past.

You should look on collegeboard.com and try to find some schools that are "less selective." Then you have to track down the websites for those schools and see what kind of support they give to students... Some big state schools will let you in, but then you are on your own. You will just flunk out and wind up with a big loan debt for nothing. Try to find some schools that promise to give you the support you will need - counseling, a learning center, remedial courses. Probably a smaller private school would work better for you than a big state university.... but you need to check it out.

There are actually a LOT of universities that will accept students with that GPA. Where are you looking? What do you want to major in?

Just a few examples of schools in my area you can look at:

Dominican College, in NY
Monroe College, NY
St. Peter's College, NY
Curry College, in MA
North Adams State College, in MA
University of Southern New Hampshire
Franklin Pierce

Matt has some good suggestions. You also might consider doing a year at a community college, making sure you do really well. Then, look to transfer to a larger, more prestigious school.
