In reading some of these answers, its no wonder our society is the way it is. Baby's will get used to whatever you reinforce. If he cries, and you come and get him, he's going to learn that crying=mommy holding me. If you rock him to sleep every night, he'll associate being held and rocked with sleeping. You have to steadily and consitently reinforce the behaviors you want to see. Take him to his room, read a story, sing softly to him, and put him in his crib. If he cries, let him cry. Every 15 minutes that he continues to cry, come in the room, pat his stomach, tell him you love him, and leave the room. I promise, eventually he'll go right to sleep with no fuss.
If you do the hard thing for a few nights, it will all pay off in the long run. And remember, it takes a full 2 weeks for a baby to adjust to a new pattern, so hang in there.
You're not neglecting him or witholding love or any garbage like that by teaching him a behavior...even at 3 months old.
Good luck to you!

My son is three months so I know what your going threw. During the day I let my baby sleep out in the living room were we hang out. If your putting him alone in a bedroom during nap time he might not be liking that too much. I suggest just letting him sleep in the living room or were ever. Also my son is the same way. I put him in his bed he wakes right up! I put him in my bed, and he goes right to sleep. It feels to me like its a no win situation. I find what works best is just hold him and let him fall asleep in your arms. I put my son down when hes almost asleep but not quite there yet, then when I place him in his bed (this is at night) I just rub him back till hes fast asleep. During the day I hold him him till he sleeps then put him on the couch for a nap! Good luck.

First, I would not let my baby cry for 15 min. he still too young. what he need is to feel save and secure. If you already change him diaper, clean cloth, feed, and still cry maybe he need more burp. What i do with my baby is put him down to his crib when time to bed, ped him, or put pacifier to soothe him, and if his cry again come, show you face don't talk to him but ped him and leave. Just try different way. Be patient!

first of all u cant spoil an infant until they are atleast 6 months. if he crys he us cring for a reason...he may just want to feel love and there is nothing wrong with giving it to him.... a 3 month old cant be insecure.... just hold him till he gets to a deep sleep and then put him down....my mom did it with my 1 year old sister for 4 months and she is fine now....not spoiled and sleeps fine.this stage will pass

You could try transitioning him to something in between before the crib. I used to push mine around inside the house in the stroller, just back and forth too, til he fell asleep. Then tried a swing too.

if your baby cries as soon as u lay him or her down and then pick them up and they stop cryiing they are used to being held a little to much. i had that problem my self with my 3 month old also u just have to let them cry for a while every few hours. get him not used to being held he has to cry until he knows u r not going to carry him weather he cries or not as a mother i know it hurts to hear them cry and u just want to rush over to them but he has to understand and u have to let them cry it helps alot for them for their lungs and vocals.

Are you breast feeding? If you are & you drink things with caffiene in it then your breast milk will have caffiene in it & get him to stimulated to sleep. If not he may have colic, try laying him on his tummy on a warm(not hot) heating pad, also mention this behavior to his Dr on your next appointment,he might have bowel irritation or something that you can't fix without a Dr. Good luck.

If you don't have swing GET ONE!!!! They are a lifesaver! Also my kids would normally fall asleep if you took them for a car ride or put them in their carseat and put them onto of a running washer (don't leave them unattended there though).

You are spoiling him, and will end up sorry. Let him cry, it isn't going to hurt him.
At this age they are already testing the limits of what they can get away with..
Smart little boogers ..

If he's constantly crying all the time it might be that he's developed colic. It might be time to adjust what you're eating, if you're breast feeding, or to change formula's if you're bottle feeding.
