Its best to have lighting when watching tv, but its better if the light is on the same wall as the tv instead of in front of or on the side so it doesn't reflect onto the screen. But for me, I like it better in the dark, it just seems to make the picture better.

I like a good movie without the kids in the dark. If i have my kids here i usually leave the light on.

Depends on what I'm watching. Scrubs, The Office or Friends the lights can be on but Lost and 24 the lights MUST be off. :)

I watch with the light on...same as sex. It's easier on the eyes.

often times when I watch horror video clips with lights fixtures off, yet then turn them on because i'm getting too scared! yet such video clips as comedies I watch contained in the darkish because it is extra relaxing like that!

wow ! such a thought-provoking Q. i probably wouldn't have answered if it was in the psychology area.
thinking about it, i guess it depends upon the time of day, and the show. but, i'm tending toward in the dark.
