thats awful - the poor guy. 10 years in prison will ruin his life, he'll be 27 when he gets out. its such a miscarrage of justice when the blatantly innocent are punished like that. no one is to blame, the girl was consenting, she even started it therefore she should be held responsible for her own actions, its such a sad story.
i really hope he gets out :-(

Sex between a 17-year-old and a 15-year-old is a crime on the part of the older one, no matter who started it. This is in recognition of the fact that a person doesn't suddenly develop moral responsibility at the age of 18, but that in the teen years a 2-year difference is significant.
If he didn't know that what he was doing was wrong, he should have.
I do think that 10 years is too long a sentence, if the crime was as described.

He should have been given the same sentence that teacher got...90 days. It's crazy that an adult can have sex with a minor and only get a teeny bit of time, but a minor gets oral sex from another minor and it's worth 10 years. That's insane. With our prison system, we could truly turn him into an actual criminal by the time he gets out. This punishment definitely didn't fit the crime.

10 yrs is a long time. But he did do the crime. I do not care if she did consent she was only 15. He knew a lot was at risk. HIs whole future now where is his future. That is the problem kids do not think before they do things they just want to have fun. Well sometimes there is a price to pay and sometimes it is a high price!!!

Because Georgia's state legislature is populated with nit wits. Also, I would not be surprised to find out that Genarlow Wilson's lawyer did a bad job or was otherwise negligent.

Since when do they sent juveniles to prison? For murder OK!But for what happened there, maybe sent him to a juvenile home for "delinquents" until he's 18 years old then turn him loose. For crimes that aren't violent you cannot mix juveniles and adults in the same prison system.

If I am not mistaken, the law that convicted him is no longer on the book. I think you are referring to the Douglasville GA case.

This should be a lesson learned for teenagers everywhere.

You should post it everyday in teen chatrooms.

Well it depends. How old is he and where does he live. In Texas you must be 17 before you can have sex. Even if both are under 17 they both can be arrested.

Ten years is an incredibly harsh sentence and I hope they can keep appealing until they get out of the state of Georgia.

She was underage, pure and simple. At that age it doesn't matter what she wanted or her mother. She was underage and he should have thought of that. The law wasn't created afterwards, he knew it and chose to ignore it. Do the crime, do the time.
