Who does the U.S. Attorney answer to? I know they are nominated for appointment by the President but, if they suck, who can fire them?

Not to be a misunderstood question...but US Attorneys are the title of those specific attorneys that actually work in the courtrooms whereas the US Attorney General is the top attorney for the Department of Justice answerable to the President.

In most cases a US Attorney has a "boss" who answers to the Associate Attorney General then the Deputy Attorney General and finally the US Attorney General himself!

Best wishes.
