I have not even played it as yet, but stuff seems to be going really wrong for me and my bedsit has a strange atmosphere about it. Like a presense.
what shall I do? Selling it is out of the question cause im interested in the occult. how can I learn to control any spirits etc?? Any good books I should read?

Listen, don't even open the box. Do not "play" with it AT ALL! I had one when I was younger and it invited many spirits into my house...and they never went away! I'm not even joking. My house was never the same after that. I got it when I was eight and I didn't move out until I was 22...the whole time the house was "haunted." Some of the spirits were good, some were not. Get rid of it. Even now the house is still haunted. My parents sold it about 4 years ago and since then it has been bought and sold 5 times!!! In four years!!! Nobody wants to stay there. So I suggest you don't even play with that thing unless you want to deal with being scared and harrassed in your own home all of the time. Go onto amazon.com or barnes and noble and look up the occult. See what books look interesting and what has good reviews. Other than that, please don't dabble with the unknown. It may bring you misfortune.

Well you two options:
1. Get used to have a "presence" around or
2. Forget about the occult
From my experiences in the occult it is very very hard to get started. I think everyone has trouble controlling "them" at first and some people never get control!!! This is the point of no return for you...you can't just say I'm done with it one day and leave it forever. That's something people don't understand about the occult. People that are seriously involved in the occult don't use Ouija boards...so if you don't like it get rid of it. Check out amazon and read some reviews on books to see what it is you want to follow. Make sure you always buy NEW occult stuff, very important. Now about the spirits in your house. If you don't want them there then politely ask them to leave, simple.

There is an answer to this question that can be very dangerous to you and it is from someone who plays with the powers and opens portals. The board is never mention in Wicca for a reason. It might be in black arts, but the last thing you want is something evil called forth. How would you protect yourself and your home from the open portal. Any work I do which is for good and to harm none, I still do all I can do to protect myself should anything slip through. Once something is through, and it's evil, it's not here to do your bidding. I know of an instance of a house burning down because someone got careless. In white Wicca, you will never find a board mentioned because of their danger. Get rid of it. There are safe ways to contact those on the other side and be safe at the same time. Blessed be.

it worries me to hear you havent 'played' with the board yet - as though the occult is some kind of game. In my opinion like attracts alike - if you go into using a ouiji board as a game you will attract spirits who also see communication as a game and who will most likely want to 'play' with you and just be a nuisance.
I agree you cannot control any spirits. If I were you I'd say a prayer to ask any spirit you feel you may have with you goes back to where they belong, and protect myself - protecting yourself is as simple as imagining a big white light surrounding you - knowing this light from god protects you and no negativity can penetrate this light.
This might not be the best advice, as I have had no experience with ouiji boards, I would never consider using one as I wouldnt be knowledgable enough to know what I was doing and how to handle things.
If you are concerned find people who know what its all about - perhaps find a local spiritualist church and ask them if there is anyone you could talk to about this (but be careful, not everyone is genuine and truely knows what they are doing!) Find someone reputable.
As for learning the occult, watch out - there are many different things out there, not all of it is true, and I wouldnt attempt anything such as a ouiji board before studying for years and being very very competent of what its all about. I dont want to nag, but i cannot stress enough that IT IS NOT A GAME!!

It sounds like you're meddling with something a bit more complicated than you can cope with, and you have put the link to the ouija board. i've had some experience with these boards, and it's never been good. I think you know that the best solution is to get rid of it. You're interested in the occult, but you're clearly not experienced enough to keep this under control. Get rid of it, there's plenty of other occult stuff which is more interesting but not half as unpleasant.
Good luck. Please take my advice, you really don't want the problems this board could bring you.

You obviously are new to the study of spirits..."control any spirits..."; ask yourself just what about "occult" you are interested in. If you are looking at learning to communicate with spirits, in a positive way, you are not going to find it in the "occult". Maybe, like many people, you are using the wrong word for what you are really interested in. If you were really interested in the "occult" then why are you frightened of what you wanted?
It sounds to me like you are not even sure what you want to learn about. Maybe you should do the smart thing and GET RID OF THAT THING and start with a library or local bookstore to find out just what exactly you really want to study.

I have never heard a positive story about Ouija boards.
They attract low level, generally mischeivous or bad spirits that can attach themselves to you.
If you would like to protect your self from the presense that you are feeling, you could try a prediction ritual or spell. There's loads on the net.
If you are interested in contacting spirits, try guided meditations, you can have more control over the kind of entity you attract.
I would get rid of the ouija board, or atleast keep it away from your home until you learn some control.

Like Asrais said this type of device calls low level spirits and they are hard to get rid of. Look up some cleansing spells rituals and clean your house. As far as getting rid of the board properly try looking on the net.
DON'T USE IT ANYMORE!

One question for you--did you buy it new or secondhand? Sounds weird, but there might be a person/thing "connected" with your Ouija if you bought it secondhand. You don't know what it is!! I'd be interested to know what exactly has been happenig as well. My answer to your question: Um, use it. See if you can figure out who or what is there. Ouijas can be really bad, so be careful; don't use it by yourself. If things continue to be bad, you've got a nasty presence around. And FYI, I'd store it somewhere else! If you keep having problems, throw out that Ouija and buy a NEW (not secondhand) one.
