You can generally file a rapid refund for federal returns regardless of filing status. I'm not sure if you're asking if you can do a state income tax rapid or not, you don't specify. But just because your spouse was injured is no reason you can't file a rapid refund, but they'll still need to be present to sign the papers unless you do it online, which is by far the fastest way to go in my book.

Presumably, you're filing as an "injured spouse" because your spouse has a tax liability that you don't want to have to pay for?

I don't know if HRBlock or other guys would be afraid to lend you your refund on something like that, as I can see it having some risks, but if they know enough to know that your return is legit enough to even file with the IRS, they should lend against it.
