Some people can really sing and other people can not. I mean some people have rhythm and are not tone deaf. Is it genetic or something anatomically different about good singers?

It's both. Of course, the voice box is unique to each person, and that would be genetically passed on, and some people have a greater intuitive feel for pitch (even having "perfect pitch") or rhythm.

But remember most singers REALLY train their voices--either informally (as in in a church choir) or formally (with a teacher). Most really great musicians come from a musical household, where they heard lots of good music and imitated it, or had parents that encouraged singing.

Most "really great" voices are deep, hard chest voices that require a LOT of power from the diaphragm; that's a learned skill. And vibrato and breath control--another learned skill.

Some are naturally talented; some work their whole lives; most are a mix of the two.

Why can some people whistle and others can not? Why can some people snap and others can not? Why are some people left handed, and others right handed? Why are some people born retarded, and others not?

If you can answer these questions, apply the common denominator to your question, and you will have the answer.

Because God simply didn't give them a destiny to "sing".
You see, all those singers out there say "I thank God for my talent".
They're absolutely right.
