Ok here is the deal, I my car is a 1984 BMW 528e. The car will turn off while in drive at any speed or when coming to a stop or upon take off. This is the maintenance the vehicle has recieved to this point. new fuel filter and pump, new spark plugs. The coil is working well and I just do not have a clue what the hell is wrong with it. I can only assume that it (the problem) has to be an electrical one since the fuel system has been eliminated. Does anyone have an idea of what or where I need to check. Thanks

When you say it turns off do you mean that it shuts down like someone turned off the key? If so problem could be in the electrical part of your ignition switch.

A common reason for this is having too many keys on the key ring - sounds weird, I know, but it does happen. The weight, combined with vibration and bumps, can actually switch the ignition off. Also, the weight will prematurely wear out the ignition lock -a fairly pricey part to replace. Try keeping just the ignition key and your house key on the ring, and see how it does.

try and it will be hard . had to do it my self once after changing every thing you have. and found it to be the lead wire to the fuel pump . my car was a truck lol . but i found it just above the driver side front tire . any thing that made the car go up and down in the front like stoping starting turning . the bad part of it was i had it tested and they said their was a connection . but being that it was grounded out the voltage was weak so if you do have it tested make sure it is tested for current as well
