If you child goes to bed at 8 or 9, make that his bed time. Every night, give him his dinner at the same time, then around 7:30 or 8:30 do your night time routine. Read a book, take a bath, wind down, what ever you do. Then give him his bottle(or breast), and when he is done lay him down to bed. When or if he wakes up at 10 for another bottle, make no eye contact when feeding him, make no sounds, turn on no lights. This may sound harsh, but he will soon learn that night time is for sleeping, not playing. This is what I did with my daughter, and she has been sleeping through the night since she was 4 months old. And if your child is on solid food he might be able to go through the night with out a bottle. But not all kids are the same. Good luck.

It's all part of being a parent!! We have a 15 month old girl that JUST started sleeping through the night! And we both get up early as well, so letting the baby cry for an hour was not an option. A 5 month old is still pretty young to be sleeping all the way through the night, although there are some lucky ones out there!! Have you tried feeding the baby more before bed time? If he is almost 6 months he might be ready to start a little solid foods, or rice cereal. Why don't you ask the doctor if they think it could be time? Good luck!

I have a 16 month old, and all my friends had babies around the same time. Theirs were ALL sleeping through the night by 3 months. Not MY daughter! She was almost 6 months old, and still waking up 3 times, the first time at 10:00. MY pediatrician suggested that we give her a "dream feed" before she woke up. So around 9:45 I would gently pick her up out of her crib, and nurse her (or you can give a bottle) while she was still sleeping (or very drowsy). It was dark and quiet, and when she was done, I gently placed her back in the crib. Then she didn't wake again until around 1 or 2. It was SO hard, but we let her cry. (I had already tried to ferberize her, it was torture~ and the sleep lady shuffle, also torturous!) She cried for almost an hour, then fell asleep. She woke again at her regular 3/4 am, and we did the same thing, she cried for a 1/2 hour. It was so hard listening to her cry, but I told myself that we were doing a good thing by teaching her to sleep and fall asleep on her own. She woke and didn't act ANY differently, mad or bitter at me about the experience. The next night, she cried once, 20 minutes. Every night after wards, she slept all the way through. I couldn't believe it! You'll see, it's hard to do when they're little, but yo get used to letting them cry it out once in a while. You have to! Hope this helps!

Rice Cereal for sure. Make sure that its warm as well. Being that he's five months he should be starting on some baby food as well. Try feeding him dinner, than a rice cereal bottle before bed. What I found out is that children usually wake up in the middle of the night at this age because they're hungry. Make the cereal kind of thick to. You'll use less milk to. Try him on a four ounce cereal bottle. Make a lil cut in the nipple so he can get all the cereal. Not too big though. Fill the bottle up with cereal to about the 1 and a half ounce line then use 2.5 ounces of formula. You can increase the cereal amount as he gets older. Try using some soothing bath stuff as well. Aveeno has a wonderful soothing bath product for babies. As soon as my daughter gets out the bath she's sleepy.

I had the same trouble with my son. I found that with him all I had to do was up his formula to 8oz before bed and he would sleep till about 5 am. I still give him 6oz during the day. I also give him a bath and let him play a little to use up some extra energy. I hope you find something that helps, I know what you are going through!

once you infant naps for the duration of the day you will possibly desire to positioned him in his crib. he's probable going to evoke and cry yet only convenience him and while he does cry flow to him so as that he's familiar with that once he desires you, you would be there. My infant grew to become into utilising me as a human pacifier too, so i offered him pacifiers to furnish to him after he feeds. you will possibly desire to evaluate giving a pacifier. The pacifier helped me in a pair of things. My 2 month previous now sleeps in his crib on my own in his room and the pacifier retains him asleep. His pacifier soothes him to sleep and facilitates him together with his sucking so he feeds in shorter cases and does much less harm to my nipples. the final advice i aspects you related to the dozing concern is while he naps for the duration of the day positioned him interior the crib. once you feed him at night attempt to stay unsleeping long adequate to place him interior the crib, it is going to likely be a soreness interior the *** for a at the same time as to get him to sleep yet faster or later he gets the thought his crib is his dozing unit and your mattress is for you in basic terms. Diffinitely attempt and get nipples for the bottle that are on the fringe of that of a breast and the product will say it and get him pacifiers that are the comparable. I desire you the final of success!!!

Yeah, it's tough. He'll sleep throught the night when he's ready. It is a little unusual that he isn't already, though.
