Adolf Hitler was a twisted genius. He brought the economy of Germany from nothing, to a somewhat prosperous state. He provided the people of Germany stability, and security, through the economy. He drew the people in by giving them what they most needed, therefore turning himself into a "savior" to the country. They were ready to follow whatever he demanded, due to their feelings of dependency. It would have been great, had he not turned psycho, and started annihilating people for their beliefs. Funny though... Hitler's Mother was Jewish...and he was actually Austrian... the two things he most wanted to destroy..not to mention the fact his "perfect society" was people with blonde hair, and blue eyes. Funny how he wanted to kill everything about himself..... through others.

I give my opinion as a historian who has studied Adolf Hitler for many years, including his background, relationships with underlings, and his psychology. This is a balanced opinion [I hope to everyone]:

Unquestionably, Hitler shaped the 20th century more than any other human being. No one else has influenced post-war international relations, politics or technology has he has. After his reign began a Cold War between the Allies that had expended millions of lives to defeat Nazi Germany. The world essentially split into US-aligned, Soviet-aligned and Non-aligned spheres, something not present prior to Hitler. Officially fascist and racial policies are almost extinct in every country, even if it took until the 1990s for South Africa to abandon apartheid. And for technology, Hitler's War saw the development of jet aircraft, nuclear technology, rocketry, and other advancements. You can thank Hitler for the nuclear reprocessing facility in Tomsk, Russia, or that Airbus A380 currently undergoing trials, or the various space programs in progress.

Influences of history aside, Hitler was an enigmatic man, who if he had stuck to his own rhetoric, would've never become who he did. His virtual creation and propaganization of "Aryan" and the "Aryan race" (Aryans are actually Iranians for the most part), was a tremendous achievement, and so were his racial purity designs, although in many cases he was a hypocrite. Most notably, he allowed thousands who were considered quarter-Jews and half-Jews to serve, one even being appointed a Field Marshal, prevented the deportation of Jewish husbands of Gentile wives, and created whole new racial categories.

In terms of psychological behavior, he was a clear egoist, although one who could be most gracious when he wanted to be. His oratory skills were outstanding, perhaps the best of any 20th century politician, with an ability to change the opinions of a crowd through his electrifying words and gesticulations.

Despite those strengths, however, while he was a good bluffer initially with the Anschluss and taking the Sudetenland, his military abilities faded after 1940 as his need for total military command control became habitual. His wanton killing of millions based on what I'd call "generously speculative" racial and social research made him an odious man, although unlike Stalin and Mao, he had no designs to starve his own people.

My overall view is that, to use an analogy, Hitler played too many hands of poker, initially a wonderful player, then a truly lousy one, willing to gamble everything without regard for the consequences.

Adolf Hitler, his terrible atrocities notwithstanding, did manage to save the global economy from the great depression, and reduce the global population to a level consistent with what the earth could support at the time. I don't respect him, or his childish racial supremacist ideals, but I do appreciate the fact that World War II happened, and because of it--you and I exist in a stable world with a "United Nations," and a Germany that isn't destroyed by reparations payments from the first world war. He did some really terrible things, but the ends we experience today are pretty enjoyable. He got what he deserved though, when he killed himself.

My opinion is that a fascination with Adolf Hitler is an infallible indicator of a fifth-rate mind.

That he was born through God, but he quickly gave his soul over to the devil. When he died, he went through the OTHER door, as Sylvia Browne would say. He did no other good in this world at all. I believe he's being punished, but that'll never make up for what he did to all of his victims.

He was demoniacal, charismatic, ruthless, sadistic, incapable of any honest human feeling for others, megalomaniacal, demon-ridden, delusional, and yet he was able to get a whole nation to follow him into the depths of the hell he created and help him create it. Amazing.

As a leader...terribly great at what he did, almost as if he had blinders on and always striving to achieve his goal.
As a man... a horrible blend of twisted evil and pure genius mastermind.
He also had a peculiar mustache.

a great speaking voice. Other than that, can't say I've got much use for him, or what he stood for. I'm sure there's a few Jewish folk might have a strong opinion.
