whatever you do, make sure NO ONE witnesses it....Help him outside after telling the bartender you are taking your drunk friend home...then deck him but good when no one is watching. OR, help him to the bathroom and hold his head in cold water...like under water in the toilet. (just kidding...I dont' need to be reported, but then again, I really don't care )

Ignore him, if he will let you. If the guy gets up in your face and starts getting physical, then deck him if you can. It's best to avoid the fight if you can cause my friend got thrown in jail for that and he didn't even start it. So just handle the situation the best way you can without you getting popped in the face. I wouldn't be worried about looking like a coward if you walk away because most people who watch what is going on will see that the guy is a jerk and you'll be the better man for it.

Best answer I can give you is to walk away, if allowed to. If the person is drunk, more than likely, they are acting on their own shortcomings and fears. If you must, however, commit to a fight, then COMMIT to it fully. You must understand that noone wins a fight. Everyone loses something when you decide to get into one, whether its energy, a little pain (cause most likely you will get struck or grappled with, otherwise its not a fight), bruises, , blood, broken bones... something is lost by everyone. Once you realize you will get hit, you can expect it and then not have reason to fear it. That opens you up to actually get the person off you as quickly as possible.
Every human body has a few weak spots on it. It doesn't matter how good, how fast, how strong the body is, if you are determined to not allow anything to prevent your strike from connecting with your target, you will hit home and most likely stun your opponent, at the least and allow you to get away.
1) The Nose. The majority of the nose is soft cartilage tissue. However, it attaches to a hard bony bridge. If struck hard with a closed fist (as though drumming on a table with the pinky-side of the fist) at a downward angle (yes starting with your hand raised above your head), the bridge of the nose will break, sending a sharp pain through the face of the person being struck, swelling the eyes up and blacking them and causing a nice little blood flow (which usually scares the crap out of bar hogs to see their own blood). This affords you the opportunity to get away.
Strike the nose at with an uppercut palm punch, and break the bridge of the nose, sending fragments of the bridge straight into the brain causing instant death and simultaneous bowel evacuation.
2)The Throat. It is the source of life. A hard, direct punch to the throat will disable and relatively quickly kill an opponent, unless there is a kindly field surgeon around willing to perform a teacheotomy. The windpipe is crushed, blocking the airway and rupturing major vessels in the neck, causing the person to essentially drown in their own blood. Not as fast as the bridge of the nose, but effective, nonetheless. In addition, the bar hog will more than likely let you hit him there, thinking you are going for the jaw, realizing too late the error of his ways.
*****These last two methods are deadly, and are to only be used under extreme conditions, if your life is at stake, and at no other time. Even then, you will have consequences to face from our legal system over the action.*****
3)The Solar Plexus. There is a spot, just at the base of the breast bone, where the soft part of your belly comes up to a point along the rib cage. A hard strike there will effectively remove the opponents ability to breathe and cause a severe amount of pain in the process. Follow up with a hard knee lift to the face as they bend over trying to catch their breath. This will give you time to escape.
4)The Floating Ribs. These are the two soft ribs at the base of your rib cage on either side. Grab your opponent at the shoulders as though you are going to wrestle with him. If he is messing with you for the sake of trying to humiliating you, he will think you are trying to wrestle him to the floor, and will intend to let you try before slamming you to the floor yourself. Don't give him the chance. Drive your knee upwards into the floating ribs on the side of your more powerful leg. It will send extreme pain into the chest cavity of the person being struck, and take away the breath momentarily. Repeat the kee-lift as many times as necessary til you have the opportunity to get away.
5)The Groin. Look, no man likes taking a shot to the testicles. It hurts. Bad. Grab up like the example above for the floating ribs, and knee lift in the right place.
Now, if the bar hog is a really experienced fighter, these simple moves may not work for you, and you were getting your tail handed to you to begin with. Other than this, I would suggest that you enroll in a good Vale Tudo, or MMA school, and truly learn to fight, meanwhile conditioning your body to be able to do so. I don't go to bars, but I have been in my share of fights in my time. They are all the same. Walk away if allowed, and if not, commit fully to making the other person want to stop messing with you. Please note that there may be some legal ramifications in the modern age of fighting. aside from the physical issues and after-effects of a fight, it seems like too many people these days want to start a fight, and then press assault charges against a person who hits them. Be careful.
Hope this helps...
