What is the procedure when a person who have committed a murder turns himself in?
Is he taken in to custody and questioned ?
Does his attorney have to be present and if his statement is voluntary and his rights have not been read to him does he get off?
Is he charged then and can he get off on bell?
What is the longest time that a person can wait for a murder trial?
I am writing a book and i need a few details please!

He is arraigned and treated like anyone else arrested for a crime. Hopefully, he is given latitude in sentencing so there is an incentive for turning one's self in.

This is based on movies I watch.

I think he will be taken into custody and questioned by the police. He can request to talk to a lawyer first or have lawyer to be present before he answers anything. That's his rights. Usually the police will state the rights before the question session, and everything is recorded.

He will be charged if the police find enough evidence to lay down the charge against him. Depending on the charges, he may/may not allow to leave on bail.

If the police decides to lay charge, it must be within 48 hrs unless there's permission from the judge. Otherwise, the man must be released.

IF YOU'RE WRITING A BOOK WOULDN'T IT BE EASIER TO DO THE RESEARCH YOURSELF INSTEAD OF RELYING ON WHAT SOME ONE ELSE THINKS THEY KNOW. YOU MIGHT GET THE WRONG ANSWER.

IN THE U.S.A. IF A MURDERER TURNS HIMSELF IN THEN HE GOES TO JAIL AND AWAITS A BAIL HEARING. THE BAIL MAY OR MAY NOT BE SET. IF YES THEY WALK OUT PENDING THE TRIAL IF NO THEY GO TO THE COUNTY LOCK UP PENDING TRIAL.
THE ATTORNEY FOR THE DEFENDANT WILL EITHER TRY TO GET A PLEAD BARGAIN OR PREPARE FOR TRIAL. THE DA WILL NEGOTIATE A PLEAD IF IT'S IN THEIR BEST INTEREST OR HE WILL PREPARE FOR PROSECUTION. IF FOUND GUILTY THE DEFENDANT THEN GETS SENT TO EITHER A STATE PRISON IF THEY WERE ARRESTED BY STATE OR LOCAL POLICE OR A FEDERAL PENITENTIARY IF THEY WERE ARRESTED BY FEDERAL OFFICERS.
A MURDER TRIAL CAN TAKE FROM A COUPLE OF HOURS TO A FEW YEARS. DEPENDING ON THE CIRCUMSTANCES.

Depends on where they are. Are you in Canada? The laws there may be different than in America, so read the answers you receive carefully. The best thing you could do is call a police station in the jurisdiction where your book is set and ask them.

Good luck!
