I'm pregnant and we're trying to think of girl names we like (we don't know if it's a boy or girl) and I like to pronounce it one way, and my husband another.

CassONdra sounds more professional! CassANDra sounds kinda uneducated...in my opinion

You are both right. It just depends on how you want it to sound when said.
think about the spelling if you want it to spell phenetically.

or you may have to choose another name that works for you both because the child will be confused, or may hurt one of your feelings when SHE decides how to pronounce it.

My Friend is named Cassandra, but she pronounces it cassANDra. I guess it is the way people want to pronounce it, but alot of people pronounce it CassANDra.

I pronounce it as cass-and-ra. There ws a girl in my class called Cassandra and that's how she pronounced her name

i live in the south and i say it like #1.

i guess it depends on your accent and who you know. maybe he knew some one named "cassONdra" before and its stuck in his head that way.

It depends from what area you live. In the US alone, my mother's name "Sandra" (along the Canadian border) was pronounced "SAHNdra."

However, in Missouri (midwest), people read/ say it, "SANDra."

Likewise, my youngest neice is supposed to be "cahSANdra" but people call her Casey (KAsee." Basically, the north and east are more apt to say the broad vowel "a" and the rest of the US is more likely to make that a sharper vowel.
