Find the school district you are interested in and apply to their office. They will be happy to tell you the requirements and pay scale.

STL city is different from the counties and each district will have its own requirements. For example, Northwest R-1 requires 64 completed credit hours of college (not necessarily in education) and a current copy of your police record (one hopes it will be blank).

Call the head office of the districts you're thinking about but most will require some college credits. I taught for 2 years and I'm basing the answer on that experience.
