I am conservative but i don't go around preaching hellfire and damnation. I am just in favor of common moral decency: that is: I don't think my leaders should be getting ****jobs in the Oval Office, I don't want to see anyone's bare breast at a football halftime show, and I don't want to see Madonna & Brittney swapping spit at an awards show.

I am not perfect and I don't pretend to be, but I do try to use common sense and assume personal responsibility. Is this "extreme?"

Not at all and Amen. I don't want to have to explain two women kissing or Janet Jackson's breast to my 7 year old son.

Unfortunately, there are narrow minds on both sides. Not all liberals are environmentalists, not all favor abortion rights, etc...

As a conservative, I agree with you on the personal responsibility issue.

I only think conservatives are religious extremists if they express themselves as such. I too appreciate moral decency, but sometimes those who preach morality are doing so from a very fragile glass house. For me, it wasn't that hanky panky was going on in the Oval Office - that's been happening for decades, do you know about JFK's sexual adventures for instance? I had a problem with his lie under oath - that's a no-no for any reason in this country. You do not sound extreme to me, but then I don't know the extent of what you consider to be moral and what you don't. We may differ on say, same-sex marriage. I think gay marriage is a good thing, and I say that from my own sense of morality, you may feel differently.

Well, most people assume that if you are conservative you are either a bible thumper or you must be stinking rich, since those are the only two groups that the Bush administration has been pandering to.

The hypocrisy of the religious right is made obvious when you look at the conservative movement's history regarding civil rights, feeding the poor, and environmental protection, three things for which Jesus would presumably scoff at them.

to no longer the comparable quantity. The Brits do no longer very own handguns in large numbers like individuals. They truthfully don't have large numbers of non secular nutters such as you have in u.s. - i think of you and a few Islamic international places are on my own with that! The Brits are, on the full, a extra mature people, and the liberals and conservatives (tories) are no longer very distinctive. They fluctuate specifically of their innovations-set to the working classification (sure, the class device continues to be alive and nicely). Tories are regularly extensive-unfold simply by fact the "nasty" social gathering. Wigs are friends who immediately get a seat in parliment.

Sir you sound reasonable but the problem is the media has convinced people that liberals are anything goes whoremongers and baby killers, while conservatives are decent god fearing people like yourself.DON'T BELIEVE THAT CRAP. Some of the worst most vile humans are church going hypocrites while there are also plenty of decent liberals of which i include myself. Forget the labels that have divided this country there are good and bad in all humans, Treat people how you would like to be treated and leave the judgement to god

Thers is a certain group that wants no moral judgements! They think by demonizeing the great majority they can pursuade others that we are mad dogs who are terrorists just like OBL. They forget the pendlium will swith back the other way!

You can not give a large number of people the name and the blame forever without them deciding that "OK SINCE I GOT THE NAME AND BLAME I MIGHT AS WELL HAVE THE GAME"

Rught then society comes apart and the marginalized majority stomps all minoritys back into the darkages.

It's not extreme to have your own personal beliefs. It becomes extreme when you try to force your beliefs on others. I for example, have no problem with Madonna and Brittney making out on my tv. lol. All you have to do is change the channel. My point is, too many people want to legislate morals. Everyone has the right to their own life and opinions.

Generalizations are the mark of a small mind. I don't think that "ALL" people assume "ALL" conservatives are religious extremists and hypocrites (although some people do assume that, and come conservatives are extremists - but then, so are some liberals).

As to the other sentiments in your post, I could not agree with you more! Thank you for putting it so well.

You may not be extreme, but some of the religious nutjobs I've seen mixing it up with our elected officials are very extreme, i.e. Pat Robertson & friends. You can believe what you want, just don't push your religious beliefs on me via my gov't. Also, some good advice, if something offends you, change the channel. There's lots of religious channels on television.

What you call common moral decency may not be common, moral or decent to other people.

All your beliefs come out of religion, so you are a religious extremists, and have no business meddling in the affairs of other Americans.
