I am 34 weeks pregnant and I go to the doctor next tuesday(I'll be 36 weeks) I was wondering.. about being induced before I brought it up to my doctor. What do some of you think about it? My husband doesn't think it's natural for me to be induced. he wants our son to come on his own time but, I just want to know when it will happen and be ready for it. I just need to know who all has been induced, I've heard it hurts from several people then again, I've heard it's the best thing they could have done so, I'm confused about my feelings for it. Just need some advice. Thanks!

I don't want to be induced because I'm "tired" of being pregnant. I could be induced on my due date.. I'm just scared and would rather know when he'll be here. You know? I know that sounds crazy but, That's how I am. I am inpatient and I want to know when he's coming. I'm afraid I won't know..

Doctors shouldn't induce because you feel uncomfortable or simply because you want to be 'prepared' - it can lead to unncessary complications that aren't worth it! That said, some doctors will induce to fit the birth into their own schedule, which is generally frowned upon. Induction is usually done when the mother's blood pressure is too high or another health issue arises.

Induction can begin with simply breaking the water or giving Pitocin or similar substance to ripen the cervix. However, if your labor doesn't start the baby isn't ready and nothing will get it out of there except a c-section. Inductions can fail because the doctor is too impatient to let you progress on your own or because the baby isn't ready to come yet, and then you're forced into an unccessary c-section.

Pitocin can speed up contractions and cause them to hurt more in a lot of women. Then generally you want an epi because of the pain, which can slow down your labor and cause it to stall, necessitating a c-section. Other induction agents, such as Cytotec, should NEVER be used because they bring on contrax very quickly and can actually cause the uterus to rupture, even in women who have never had a section before.

I would just sit back and wait, honestly. Did you take a birthing class? While the anticipation is probably killing you, it's best to let the baby choose his/her own day to make sure they're fully done 'baking'. :) You have less chance of lung immaturity, etc. this way. And the baby gets to come when they're ready.

well i wanted to be induced at 36 weeks also because i was just in so much pain, i almost couldnt even get up. my doctor wouldnt do it. i am 39 1/2 weeks pregnant and i have a doctors appointment tomorrow, if i make it to that appointment then they are gonna set up for me to be induced within a week. i think that it is better to wait until at least 37 1/2 weeks, but if your doctor is willing to do it, then the choice is up to you... weather or not its not right because your husband wants it to come natural or not is different, some ladys HAVE to be induced and with something like that its not really choice.

labor is gonna hurt no matter what, there is just no getting around it. even with an epidural there will be some sort of pain and one time or another... being induced doesnt hurt more its just instead of the contractions slowly comming to you, its like BAM all in one type thing.. sometimes they even last longer then not being induced.... i am pregnant with my first baby... but my sister had 1 natural birth and one where she had to be induced.

most doctors won't induce without good reason. BECUZ they could be off by 2 weeks either way! so your baby could not be developed correctly whenborn and have to live in the hospital or possibly die. i know i would LOVE to be induced just becuz I am so over this pregnancy crap. i'll be 38 weeks tomorrow i know i only have 2 weeks but it seems like an eternity! but pretty much my sister was induced and never got that burst of energy and was so tired she was in labor for like 2 days. the baby wasn't ready so she had to have a c-section. she was inducedbecuz of high blood pressure.

I was induced with all my kids. Of course it hurts... its child birth. I wont feel any better natural. The only difference is it comes on faster and so you have less time to prepare for the pain. I am glad I was induced but mine was for medical reasons. (#1 was 42 weeks and #2 and #3 was preeclampsia) I would let your body do what comes natural and if it doesn't then get induced. Even with natural labor you will have signs that it is starting. Good luck

I am a mother of 2 (15 y/o and 9.5 y/o) both were not induced and just wait till it's their due time. The only time I believe that the OB should induced you are if you are over due and if you're having a distress labor.

For most pregnant women, once your water breaks out, your contraction is more faster and of coruse anytime you'll be having your baby.

You'll be fine... and Congratulations!

well i was induced and after about 4 hour the doctor then said i wasn't going fast enough then he said either we can do a c section or i can go home and just wait. well really what did he think a 39 week pregnant woman would say so i kinda got tricked into a c section so i myself would not recommend a induction!! good luck with your birth

It is a very painful experience. The only reason I had my labor induced was because I was having complications and my baby wasn't traveling down the birth canal. So please reconsider having an induced labor just because you are tired of being pregnant. I would never want to experience that pain again.

I was induced because I was a week overdue. They put a tiny pill on my cervix. That was the induction. I was so worked up about having to be being induced, and that was it!! It all depends on you and your doctor . Relax!!! Things have a way of working the way that they're supposed to!! Good luck!!

You don't need to worry about being induced unless you go past 41 weeks gestation without delivering. If you are induced, your labor is much more difficult and painful and you are more likely to have problems. I would advise you to avoid it unless your doctor thinks it is medically necessary.

I was induced because I had very little fluid left for baby. My induction started on a Tuesday morning, and my daughter wasn't born until Thursday afternoon. I don't recommend it, unless for some reason your Dr. thinks its best for you and your baby. I'd never volunteer to do it!
