Has anyone gotten a false positive from a home pregnancy test? What test did you use? What ones have you found are the most accurate?

How accurate are the digital tests?

I used 2 from the Dollar Tree (which came up positive) and 2 Clear Blue Easy (they both came up positive). I think any brand works if you have enough hormones in your body for the test to dectect.

I prefer the brans "Answer". It showed i was pregnant 7 full days before my period was due.

Surprisingly, cheap tests purchased at dollar stores or on the Internet are often more sensitive and reliable than expensive store brands. HPT's are like soda: very cheap to make, and marked up quite a bit for retail.

A blood test is more accurate, but not necessarily more sensitive. A lot depends on the lab. A quantitative blood test, usually called a beta hCG test, measures the exact units of hCG in the blood. That means it will detect even the most minimal level. There is another type of blood test sometimes called a qualitative hCG. This is a test that simply gives a yes or no answer to whether you are pregnant. Just like urine tests, labs vary as to what is considered a positive pregnancy test. Common cutoffs for positive are 5, 10, and 25 units. A level under 5 is considered negative. A test that is only triggered at 25 units of hCG is not any more sensitive than several of the urine HPTs.

All the tests work the same and are accurate if you use them correctly - you might as well buy the store brand to save money. False positives are very rare - either the hormone is there or it isn't. A false negative is much more likely.

I like Clear Blue Easy they say pregnant or not pregnant. They seem very accurate. However, it is not often you get a false positive on any test unless test was not read within the time limit.

Any test works. I have a friend that found out she was pregnant with her son from a dollar store test... I also found out i was pregnant from dollar store tests and didnt take any other test other then what the doctor did... dont waste the money if it comes out positive go to a doctor or a clinic let them tell you if its a false negitive.
