Hoping I am not just a male bigot, I wonder if there were female potters in 1781 when most craft workers were men. I would expect that working garb for women doing pottery was probably very little different than working garb for other tasks and was most likely a tunic or shift over more ordinary dress with or without an apron.
The rather astonishing site in sources shows some pictures and actual patterns for making clothing of the period. Books on theater period costuming may also be useful
