Lol no worries, deary!! of course it's safe and if your kind to the Egyptians you will recieve a lot of kindness back in return. If anything did happen you would find hundreds of Egyptians to your rescue..!! haha lol. But if you want to take a friend, then take a friend, You may even enjoy the experience of Egypt more if you bring a friend along with you.

This is a very interesting question which has been asked so many times before. It's completely safe for an American to travel to Egypt. Egyptians are very kind and welcoming. They'll open their homes and hearts to you and make u feel safe. It's very necessary to be cautious, but that's anywhere you go in the world. Have tons of fun while u are there, enjoy every minute of it. It'll be an amazing experience :)

It's more safe than your home. Unless your name is like anyone from Bush's administration or family and you will not say you are coming from Iraq.
In that case it'll be safe also but not happy and friendly when you are there.

I felt safer in cairo (population 10 million plus) than I did in my then hometown of Oakland, CA (population 300,000). I'm no fan of islam, but islamic law does lower crime statistics. Arabs refer to the US as "the jungle" because the crime is so much higher here. I found Egyptians to be unbelievably friendly to everyone, even Americans like me and my family members.
