Let's face it. When you follow your NHL team on the road, there are some arenas/cities that you really don't want to go visit, but you have to because your team is playing them. So which NHL arena/city/team do you think is the most intimidating for the traveling away team fans?

Is it Philly and the Wachovia Center?
Is it NYC and Madison Sq. Garden?

Or is it another city/arena that you've had personal experience at?

Which NHL arena/city treats away fans with the most hostility?

Remember, the question is not about which arena/city most hostile to one specific team's fanbase, but overall. And please don't use hearsay evidence. We need to determine which NHL arena/city/team is the most absolute vile place to VISIT for the traveling away supporters.

I'm from Jersey,
but I've seen 100's of games at the Wacho Center and without a doubt, much like the old Vet Center, non-Philly fans are in danger
Any fan (of any sport) wearing visiting team jerseys in attendance at a Philly game has a VERY low survival rate.
I don't think it's right,
but it is a fact
Wear a visiting team's jersey and at the very least you'll be wearing a beer

Flyer fans are merciless, but MSG is the only place I saw a man HAVE to fight to defend his girlfriend who had made the tragic mistake of wearing a Leafs jersey to the game.

The old Boston Garden was pretty bad, but the replacement "Place Bank Name Here" Center is sterile in comparison. If you take enough friends with you, the Meadowlands can feel like a home game, since they have so much trouble filling the arena.

For my money, Toronto, Colorado, San Jose and Calgary are the best places to see a game (energy/noise, amenities, sightlines, comfort, ease of access from city center). Edmonton gets an honorable mention, particularly if it's a playoff game, with its rich building heritage and fan support.

Cory A...every arena gets crazy when its half-filled with those piece of sh*t toronto fans, i saw 3 fights in the stands and about 20 fans ejected the last time Toronto came to Mellon Arena.

And why are all of you just noting certain places when a rival is playing?
The most intimidating arena's overall are in Philly and Montreal

Joe Lous Arena with the Red Wings, those guys are brutal and know how to make a bad experience out of a game.

The Minnesota Wild fans had the most hospitality, that I've visited at least.

You may be suprised but I've had a really bad time in LA as a wings fan. Whether I'm up against the glass or sitting in the 400's, everyone is drunk, pissed that they're losing, and wanna start some s***. I admit I haven't seen any games back east aside from the K-Wings, but no other west coast teams have fans like L.A.

Pfft!!! Your way off. Try Calgary or any real Canadien arena.

**I would like to amend my answer with :

Where is NOT the most intimidating arena : The Pepsi Center in Denver - Home of the Avalanche. A bunch of preppy, wine drinking, escargot eating rich idiots that know nothing about the game of Hockey. Shame on you Denver! Know wonder your team sucks now.

I'd still say MSG. I'll admit it's definitely more elevated when the Devils and Isles come to town, especially game 4 against the devils last year, that was intense. Nevertheless, if you get one decently roudy non-ranger fan, he's getting at least one beer thrown on them, I haven't been to every arena, but MSG is definitely the worst I've been too.

I haven't been to every rink in the league, but in my experiance, I'd have to agree it's either Edmonton or Calgary! Those home fans are relentless in their quest to degrade the out of town fan! Having said that It's not ALL the fans just a few make it bad for everyone. They are very passionate about their sport and their team and you mix in a whole lot of beer and some out of town fans wow disaster!
