For the last two days my snails, have sat in the same position on the water edge of the tank. I have varoius types of goldfish inside the tank as well and they never bother the snails. I heard they lay their eggs on the water edge of the tank, is this what their preparing for or am I preparing for the worst?

They may be preparing to lay eggs, or that may be their favourite spot, or you may just be looking at them when they happen to be at the water's edge.

Either way, they're alive and most likely fine. If they were dead, they'd be drifting around on the gravel and they'd stink up the tank.

i also have snails and they have laid eggs before. they do it as soon as they are ready so where they are now has nothing to do with anything. i also have a few different snails. some move around a lot more than others. you probably just have snails that like to hang out there. but if you have a few snails they will likely breed and lay eggs. mine did
