India will grow to feed itself and most of the world as corporate farms replace small (less than 1 acre) farms which currently predominate. It's industries will grow and it will eventually become a superpower. It already is a nuclear power and with Bush's agreement is set up to become a superior power to China in the region. If India just meets the minimum requirements for providing for the rising population, I shall be happy. In the last 60 years India has consistently fallen short of reaching the minimum requirements, always. Only corruption is on the rise. A strong hand to punish corruption in govt. offices is a must. If the public servants turn corrupt, the country is doomed. The licencing system must be corruption free and encourage small entrepreneurs to start small service industries to offer mass employment.
In conclusion, as things stands, whether india turns 60 or 100, we have nothing to look forward to. If the attitude of the govt. and the public servants taking salary from the public exchequer, changes, and they are willing to be transparent and committed, only then we can look forward to something.

listen india is like old wine in new bottle. it is going great guns but you know the population, the currutption etc is going to spoil it a little bit. I think India always wants to be a super power, in the next twenty years they may become neo-capitalists and usher in change everywhere and become global darlings and have all foreign ships landing here with hard currency. they estimate that in 20 years that dollar/rupee parity will be in the range of 20 RS/dollar. they are expecting that the extent of globalisation will reach such great heights that india will compete with china on a.tallest building b.longest bridge 3. free spending 4. highest exports 5. majorcapital inflows and 6. forex reserves [and taking in all the money you can get from abroad in all forms is the name of the game and bring the rupee to a high of 20]. Wait as chamgane freely flows in the land of ganga and cavier is swallowed with pride. If I were u i will get my toxedo ready.
