You are acting like a spoiled little brat. Knock it off and listen to your mom and dad!

It's not worth it. Viruses can be in the computer just being hooked to an internet source. Besides lying isn't the way to go. Myspace isn't everything everyone makes it out to be. And as for the history, you can clear it but theres ways of seeing it after you do.

Open an e-mail account seperate from whichever one you already use (e.g. Yahoo webmail, etc) to sign-up to MySpace with. Keep this one to yourself, don't even tell your friends it exists...... only use it for signing up for things.

Only use your first name (if required you put in your last name, just use the first letter of it... can't remember since it's been a while since I signed-up to MySpace).

If using the FIREFOX browser (and you should), go into:
TOOLS > Options > Privacy
Make sure you've ticked the box "always clear my private data when I close Firefox". Click the settings button next to it, make sure all options are ticked.
http://www.mozilla.com/en-US/firefox/

If still with Internet Explorer, go into:
Tools > Internet Options > Advanced
Try find the option "Empty temporary internet file folder when browser is closed".
After using IE to access MySpace, going into Tools > Internet Options > click the "clear history" button. (as you can see, it's much easier & safer to use FIREFOX as your browser instead).

On MySpace, DO NOT upload pictures of yourself, as that's liable to kinda give the game away.
Make sure in the "account settings" part of MySpace, you've selected under Privacy settings:
"Who can view my profile" = "My Friends Only"
"Privacy settings" tick
- Hide online now

You should have problems with viruses if your computer has these installed as a minimum:
Anti-VIR Personal Edition classic

SPYBOT: Search & Destroy
http://www.safer-networking.org

ZoneAlarm Firewall (Free Edition)

Another trick I've learned from having the internet at home over the last 7yrs, and the only space I have for my computer being in the kitchen (aka not much privacy) is to have 2 browser windows up.......... one with whatever it is you're doing, the other with something innocent looking in case you need to pop it up in a hurry so people don't see what you're looking at (I find the http://news.bbc.co.uk website handy for this)

Try reasoning with them about getting permission to get on MySpace. Maybe show them a profile belonging to one of your friends so they can see what it's like. But if they still say no, you're going to have to live with it. At least, until you move out, get your own computer and start paying for your own Internet access! Since it's their roof, it's also their rules.

If you go to MySpace on the sly, you'll just be proving what your parents have apparently already decided: that you're too immature to be trusted with surfing unsupervised.

If you don't know a lot about basic clearing history and cookies etc.. you are most likely going to be caught.

A) It's only Myspace which in it's self is pointless
B) It will take a good month to complete a good Myspace and it sounds like you have very limited access

i'm not sure if theres a way to erase the history..but if you figure it out, you can always make a myspace and put a nickname your parents dont know other than putting your full information then they can look you up on the website.. and viruses, just be careful what you click on.

I wouldnt bother. My younger brother, (he is 17) has/had a myspace account. My parents didnt know about it, and he had put all sorts of crap on it that he shouldnt have. Anyways, a cousin of ours saw it and was leaving messages on his account.I guess she forgot to log off or left it on, and her dad saw it.

Well, he then copied a bunch of crap off it and sent it to everyone in the family(what an idiot.)_ Point of the story is it can always get back to your family one way or another.

MySpace is stupid and a haven for pedophiles. Maybe its becasue Im close to 30 and I just dont see the point. But i know teenagers think it a great site. There are good reasons your parents dont want you to have an account there..I suggest you just listen to them.

Dear Ally L, I have some great news for you, because yes there is away you can delete your history ... so your dad is never going to find out that your on myspace! Step 1) at the top of the page click on tools > Clear private data *note* your internet might not have this Step 2) at the top of page click on tools > options > Security > Delete cookies best of luck, always your best answer=) Jake

How would they know that you made a myspace account? As long as you log off everytime you end your session, they shouldn't be able to log into your account. Create a fake user name and make sure your name is unsearchable, and I would think yo are good to go. This is not to say that I am usging you to disbey your parents....

However, to be safe, make sure that you never EVER put any private information on your page.
REMEMBER THAT!

Why do you want to be like everyone else so badly.... be unique... make decisions that are not based on what everyone else is doing. Just because "all your friends" have one and you want one too doesn't mean that it's for everyone. Why be a lemming?

So your parents don't approve..... do you think they disapprove out of meaness or spite? I think they have some very good reasons to set their foot down on this. Security is their most important reason and it should be yours too, if you are in any way interested in being known for your mature and responsible behavior.

Find other ways to "stay connected" to your friends.... try using the phone or schedule a weekly get together that your friends can count on for hanging out at your home. It's a much better way to make friends and create better relationships than doing so online.

Move out of your parents house. Then you can have as many myspace accounts as you you want.
